Pavilion ~ Rose J. Barber, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 6, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Mrs. Barber was born December 9, 1940 in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of the late Patsy and Philomina Zampatori Distaffen. “Rosie” will be remembered as being very caring and devoted to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her enormous circle of friends and keeping her ties strong to her "family" at the Genesee Country Museum. Rose also had a passion for historical cooking, classical music and regional history. She experimented with many historical recipes and was avid reader of early American journals and diaries. She was enthralled with Jane Austen’s novels and read them repeatedly. Mrs. Barber is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Daniel M. Barber, her son, Jonathan (Karen Collett) Barber of Pavilion, a brother, Rocco Distaffen of Rochester, a sister-in-law, Darlene Distaffen of Gainesville, very close friends, George and Kathy Hamell of Penfield and Dick and LuAnn McKenzie, her generous and caring neighbors, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Pat Jr. and Guy. Family and friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 1 ~ 2 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Rd. (Rt. 19), LeRoy, where the family will share words of remembrance at 2:00 PM. The courtesy of no flowers is requested with memorials suggested to Lake Plains Dialysis, 587 E. Main Street, Batavia, NY
