LeRoy ~ David R. Taylor, 45, of Lake Street, passed away suddenly, on August 3, 2015. David was born on August 11, 1969 in Lewiston, NY, to the late Stephen A. Taylor of Pavilion and Erika M. (Zirks) Taylor, also of Pavilion. In addition to his mother, David is survived by his siblings—Margaret Taylor of Salisbury, MD, Kristine Taylor of Fairport, and Andrew (Lisa) Taylor of Tyngsboro, MA; grandmother Sue (Patchen) Taylor of LeRoy; nieces—Jessica, Kaitlin, and Julia Dorman of Fairport and Emily Taylor of Tyngsboro, MA; as well as many loving and supportive aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to his father, David is predeceased by his grandfather David B. Taylor of LeRoy and grandparents Erna and Reinhard Zirks of Germany, as well as several aunts and uncles, also from Germany. David was born with Dravet syndrome, a genetic disorder marked by severe childhood epilepsy and developmental delays. Cared for at home for 33 years by his mother and father, David taught his family and friends daily lessons in compassion, patience, unconditional love, strength of family, and the goodness of people and community. So many strangers—many of whom became dear friends—so graciously offered support to David and his family from the very beginning; for this, the Taylor family is eternally grateful. At age 33, David moved into the Lifetime Assistance apartments in LeRoy. At LAI, David’s “family” grew; other residents including David’s best friend, Max, their families, and the dedicated and loving staff at LAI welcomed David with open arms and smoothed his transition from home. David could soften the hearts of even the grumpiest sort with his infectious smile and laugh. He was known to carry around his mom and dad’s car keys but would occasionally lose them at the most inopportune moments, initiating a house- or sometimes neighborhood-wide search-and-recovery mission. David loved baseball caps and eyeglasses and the people who wore them, and was always ready to go for a ride, eat a piece of cake, or get a kiss on his cheek from his beloved “Moomoo” (Mom). He will be so sorely missed. Friends may call on the family on Friday from 6–8 P.M. at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy. Services for David's family will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifetime Assistance, Inc., 425 Paul Rd., Chili, NY 14624.
